Brief schedule of activities
Construct a yellow perch aquaculture facility in 1997. Operate the facility during 1998 and 1999 using BPA
funds. Profits of the facility will be used to operate during subsequent years.
Biological need
To partially mitigate for the loss of tribal economy due to the loss of anadromous fish.
Critical uncertainties
Funding will be available for implementation the first year and O & M for the following two years.
Summary of expected outcome
To raise yellow perch and then market them for a profit for the tribal economy.
Dependencies/opportunities for cooperation
The Ponderay Newsprint Mill and the Kalispel Tribe are cooperatively working out an agreement for the site
of the aquaculture facility.
