Project history
Road #7300380 provides access to Peavy Cabin and the John Day Wilderness Area. Vehicular use on the road has increased. Several of the culverts are no longer functional. The road interrupts several springs and seeps.

The primary objective will be the reduction of sediment into the North Fork of the John Day River.

Brief schedule of activities

Biological need
The North Fork--John Day River is important to both Bull Trout and Chinook Salmon. This river supports the only natural run of salmon in the John Day River system.

Critical uncertainties

Summary of expected outcome
The expected results will be the reduction of sediment into the river from the road.

Dependencies/opportunities for cooperation
The project is supported by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. NEPA analysis needs to be completed for the project.

Risks
There is a risk for not implementing the project. Sediment will continue to be introduced to the river from the road.

Monitoring activity
Post-project monitoring will be conducted by the Ranger District Fish Biologist and ODFW.
