Reason for change in estimated budget

In 2000 PNNL is conducting ADCP (acoustic Doppler current profiler) work at Grand Coulee Dam to determine where the best place for the deployment of the strobe system would be (based on engineering constraints for strobe deployment and fish escape velocity information). In addition, we are providing experimental design and training support to Colville Confederated Tribe staff. The 2000 statement of work will accomplish the background work necessary to begin the full evaluation of fine-scaled behavior of KOK and RBT in the forebay of Grand Coulee Dam. FY 2001 work will be the beginning of the fisheries data collection efforts in the field. The purchase of the equipment to perform these tasks is a large, one-time, capital expense but the equipment will be used for the life of this project.

Reason for change in scope

All of this work is being conducted with the intent of identifying management solutions for reducing the entraiment loss of KOK and RBT at Grand Coulee Dam. PNNL's work will facilitate that objective, as well as providing an independent assessment of the efficacy of efforts to reduce entrainment after the strobe system is deployed in 2002.
