Short description
Results of study could suggest that both sport and commercial non-salmonid harvest management policies/practices be changed to allow improved survival of anadromous species, especially listed Snake River stocks. . In addition, the results of this study should clearly either support or counter the use of harvest management to improve salmon survival, thereby directing the use of available funds to those measures that are truly improving the survival of listed stocks.

Management implications
Results of study could suggest that both sport and commercial non-salmonid harvest management policies/practices be changed to allow improved survival of anadromous species, especially listed Snake River stocks. . In addition, the results of this study should clearly either support or counter the use of harvest management to improve salmon survival, thereby directing the use of available funds to those measures that are truly improving the survival of listed stocks.

Specific measureable objectives
(1)examine historical relationships between harvests and management policy for non-salmonid fisheries and production of salmon; (2) collect data on by-catch in various fisheries; and, (3) determine level of reduction of food supply available to salmonids by feeding of non-salmonids.

Testable hypothesis
MANAGEMENT OF NON-SALMONID FISHERIES HAS NO INFLUENCE UPON SURVIVAL AND GROWTH OF SALMON IN THE OFFSHORE REGION

Monitoring activity
Monitor Pacific Ocean shrimp trawl and longline fisheries for impacts on Columbia River Basin salmonids, especially listed Snake River stocks

Section 3. Budget

Data shown are the total of expense and capital obligations by fiscal year. Obligations for any given year may not equal actual expenditures or accruals within the year, due to carryover, pre-funding, capitalization and difference between operating year and BPA fiscal year.
